Anyway, very well rendered of course, and a neat concept too!

But the shadows on the whole picture fall differently: there's no shadow from the parchment's top edging and from cat`s plumes on cat`s body at all, and the directions from shadows throght objects towards the light source are little odd. -2.
Also the sizes of the cat and the edging seem mismatched. -1.
Sum: about +4. (Just a humble opinion).

Haha. Well don't worry, you wouldn't be the first. I just started posting on deviantart a month ago, and two people actually did say that. One person seemed to think I was ripping off the owner of shadowscapes.com and they couldn't remember the artists name, until I pointed out that I WAS the owner of shadowscapes.com and perhaps my name might be familiar from there.

So last would be really nice, first would be great!
I dig those knotwork - they gave such art a feeling of deeper meaning. A Friend bought some books about this subject and i think i should too.
Not only as a mainsubject, but i think its great if you can put special signes on an object in concepts instead of just drawing some meaningless lines which most time just look wrong, because its obviously if you just painted them, because they're good-looking.
Also it would be nice if i would know more about knots to be able to understand your work better.

I designed the knots myself. Actually, the design phase of this took much longer than the painting of it. I spent several days just getting the knotwork right.
The best way to learn how is really just get some books like your friend, and then experiment a lot with the techniques. Good luck with that!
